The TwitViewer Twitter GIF Downloader is an online tool for finding animated media attached to supported public X posts.
Although animations on X are commonly described as GIFs, they may be delivered by the source as looping video files. TwitViewer retrieves the available media format provided for the public post and displays a download option when supported.
No TwitViewer registration, social media password, or software installation is required.
1Open the public X post containing the animation you want to save. Make sure you are viewing the individual post rather than a profile feed.
2Copy the complete x.com or supported twitter.com post link. Paste it into the TwitViewer GIF Downloader.
3Select Find GIF. When supported media is available, use the displayed download control to save it to your device.
Use the downloader through a current browser without installing a program, mobile application, or browser extension.
Paste a direct public post URL instead of manually searching through a profile or conversation.
TwitViewer does not ask for your X password, session cookie, recovery code, or authentication token.
The tool is designed for iPhone, Android, tablets, Windows, macOS, and other devices with modern browser support.
TwitViewer uses the supported media version available from the source. It does not artificially increase resolution or recreate missing frames.
TwitViewer does not add a new watermark to the downloaded media. Any existing text, branding, or watermark remains unchanged.
Animations shown as GIFs on social platforms are often processed and delivered as looping video. Video formats can provide better image quality and smaller files than traditional .gif files.
For this reason, an animation that appears to be a GIF on X may use an MP4 source. TwitViewer can convert supported GIF media into a GIF download, while the browser preview may continue to use the source video.
Both GIF and MP4 animations can be played by most current browsers, phones, computers, messaging tools, and media players.

Open the GIF Downloader in Safari and paste the direct public post URL. The downloaded animation will normally appear in the Files app or browser Downloads folder.

Use Chrome or another modern browser. Once the media is available, use the download control and check your device’s Downloads folder.

On Windows, macOS, or Linux, the animation will normally be saved to your browser’s selected download directory.
You may use the downloader to:
Always consider copyright, creator permission, privacy, trademarks, and the context in which the animation was originally published.
TwitViewer may not find downloadable GIF media when:
A legitimate GIF downloader cannot unlock protected posts or recover deleted media.
Publicly viewable media can still be protected by copyright and other rights. Downloading a GIF does not automatically give you permission to republish, edit, sell, or use it commercially.
Use downloaded files only when you own the content, have permission, or have another valid legal basis. Preserve relevant attribution and avoid presenting another person’s work as your own.
Copy the direct URL of a supported public post containing GIF media, paste it into TwitViewer, and use the displayed download control.
X commonly delivers looping animations as video rather than traditional GIF files. TwitViewer can convert supported GIF media into a GIF download, while the source preview may still use MP4.

Yes. You can use it in a modern mobile browser and save supported media using your browser’s download controls.
TwitViewer uses the available source media. The final resolution and compression depend on what the source makes available and the GIF conversion process.
For supported X GIF media, TwitViewer provides a GIF download generated from the available source animation.
Only if you own the media, have the creator’s permission, or have another valid legal basis. Public availability by itself is not permission to republish.
TwitViewer may cache a generated GIF on server storage to avoid repeating the same conversion. This operational cache is not a permanent user archive.
Paste a supported post URL to find and save the available animation.
